Webster was a devout Congregationalist. However, his Speller was entirely secular. It ended with two pages of important dates in American history, beginning with Columbus's in 1492 and ending with the battle of Yorktown in 1781. There was no mention of God, the Bible, or sacred events. "Let sacred things be appropriated for sacred purposes," wrote Webster. As Ellis explains, "In place of Christian myths, Webster began to construct a secular catechism to the nation-state. Here was the first appearance of 'civics' in American schoolbooks. In this sense, Webster's speller was the secular successor to The New England Primer with its explicitly biblical injunctions." [Ellis 175]
His 1828 American Dictionary contained the greatest number of Biblical definitions given in any reference volume. Webster considered "education useless without the Bible."

Webster released his own edition of the Bible in 1833. He used the King James Version as a base, and consulted the Hebrew and Greek along with various other versions and commentaries. Webster molded the KJV to correct grammar, replaced words that were no longer used, and did away with words and phrases that could be seen as offensive.
Do you see why Webster (praise be upon him) is one of my heroe's! He made American Spelling not British Anymore. Webster (praise be upon him) deserves a lot more respect than he gets!

Okay, you praise Noah Webster but your spelling is atrocious. I know that some teenagers in public schools that have poor spelling skills, but I would figure home schoolers would have little trouble with spelling.
If people say the original version of the bible, the King James Version, should be used, then why should people not use the original spellings of English words?
How is it obvious that God created the world in six days?

There are two versions of the creation, so which is fact? Saying the Bible is infallible, because you believe it, is not mature and acceptable answer, especially from a scientific viewpoint.
I am willing to help you be educated in what the facts are. I am not a false teachers, I want to help understand the logic in everyday life. Saying to someone that they are going to Hell is not mature and will not get you into heaven.

I am not British, but Canadian. I am a bit of a "spelling Nazi." It irritates me to see young people who cannot spell.
You have not provided me with any evidence that the Bible is fact.
The Bible does seem to teach evolution.
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree." Genesis 1:11
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so." Genesis 1:24
The Genesis 1 creation account conflicts with the order of events that are known to science. In Genesis, the earth is created before light and stars, birds and whales before reptiles and insects, and flowering plants before any animals. The true order of events was just the opposite.
Plants are made on the third day before there was a sun to drive their photosynthetic processes.
If the Bible tells to jump off a cliff to become "saved" would you do it? You must understand the logic to understand the truth of knowledge. You must think for yourself to realize the truth.

Amy, you need to provide evidence to convince people that you are right. You are constantly berating the British which is giving you unholy thoughts. You ignore my examples of evidence without providing a proper rebuttal.
With your schooling, I would suggest you go back to a real school or literacy education program. You will not be able to function in the real world without a proper education. Employers will not hire you because you cannot spell.
I am sure that your mother wants the best for you. But, I do not think see can teach you and I know you know that she cannot.
You need to learn and think for yourself as you become adult. You must realize that things are not bad as they seem.

Um... actually, you can. How do we know that God even exists? We can, in truth, never know, although one should assume something does not exist and then conduct scientific studies to prove that it does. Also, do you accept the fact that the Earth revolves around the sun? The Bible says that it does not. And nobody care's about my spelling. My Mom is a very good teacher. She is very intellegent and HardWorking and has God's qualafications, so you cant deny that.
My HomeSchool education is just fine. Your just trying to defend the Satanic Athiest Secular Humanist Public School "Education" system.
